I was told I had to run the crucial scanner on the rig in question for the most accurate results.Same thing. Another oddity, searching for the model via the crucial compatibility search only shows ddr3 options as compatible. When one searches the model #, you mostly get reference to shipping with ddr3 1600. The Ram installed is indeed DDR4 2133 8gb x 1 stick.
ASUS M32 SERIES UPGRADES CRACK
I am seeking clarification from ASUS before I crack open the case however as I am receiving conflicting information as to whether that would void the warranty. Please note when viewing the speccy results below: This speccy result is of the the Asus m32cd-ca018t rig STOCK! I have a NVIDIA GEforce that I plan on installing as well as hopefully bumping up the ram. So in my case, more than 8gb is important.
To clarify, I don't do insane HD video editing per se, but I do heavy multitasking and I am regularly using Adobe CC 2015 and video capture (from old vhs).
I realize if it is even possible to run it, best case scenario it would reduce the ddr4 speed to match the lower ddr3, but is this feasible in the short term until I pick up another ddr4 stick?Įdited by ThreePeakSolutions, 13 January 2016 - 06:29 AM. I have 1 x 8gb ddr3 1600 stick lying around.
ASUS M32 SERIES UPGRADES PC
#3) I can already assume the venom I'll get for this, but having never had a system prior that could handle more than 1 type of ram, as the M32CD-CA018T supposedly can.It is feasible to run the pc with a mix of 1 ddf3 stick and 1 ddr4 stick? at least in the short term? It ships with 1 x 8gb stick of ddr4 2133 and 1 free dimm slot. #2) Assuming anybody knows the proper MOBO in the ASUS M32CD-CA018T, is their any XMP profiles or overclock/tuning options in the bios? I've only used dell and hp before this, so i'm used to being horribly hadncuffed. Do I infer from that sentence that I can only use exactly that speed of ram at ddr4 in this pc? Or will faster speeds like 2600 work in the computer, but likely downclock the ram to 2133? I'm talking "will it work", not will I get the higher speed to clairify.
I've never used ddr4 before, but assuming the principals are the same: #1) Does the usual "faster ram speed sticks will work but get downclocked to highest supported speed by mobo/ OR match lowest speed stick" hold true here? The only M32CD literature I can find uses the following the language: "DDR4 at 2133Mhz" It doesn't say max memory or speeds supported or anything along those lines, it's just titled "memory". Now as far as compatibility, I am getting anecdotal info that the MOBO officially supports 16GB of RAM (2 DIMM slots total), and Unofficially up to 32GB). I'm not 100% sure of the Mobo model #, but my understanding is that it can take both dd3 (possibly ddr3L specifically) AND ddr4. Apparently the M32CD series from ASUS has a few variants, so I just look up info using M32CD as the model # search and just make sure it's the same specs.
Note, the "submodel" (last 6 characters after dash) seems to be specific to Staples where I bought it. I'm not as much of a newb as the following question will seem like.
